How this tool uses AI

Sometimes you choose an AI feature yourself, for example to copy text from a photo. In a few situations, the tool automatically compares your data with a fixed list of tips. Below you can see what happens before, during, and after an AI step.

1

Before AI is used

At your request

For a photo or message, you see in advance that AI will be used. You can also add the data through manual input.

Automatically

The automatic check starts when you have saved several messages from the airline, when boarding was denied and you saved a message, or later in the process when the airline on your ticket differs from the airline that operated the flight. You cannot switch off this check.

For both

In neither case does AI write a letter or send anything to the airline.

2

While AI is being used

At your request

Only the file or text you choose goes to the company that runs the AI model.

Automatically

The tool sends part of your form and short excerpts of up to 300 characters from no more than four saved airline messages. Your name, address, bank account number, and flight number are not included. AI compares this information with the fixed list.

For both

The data is sent through OpenRouter, a forwarding service, to the company that runs the AI model. Vluchtclaimhulp has no central claims database. To avoid repeating the same automatic check, your browser stores a shortened comparison of your input and the AI result for up to 24 hours. Zero retention by the AI provider is not guaranteed, and processing may take place outside the European Economic Area (EEA). The privacy policy explains which companies process data and where.

3

After AI has finished

At your request

You see what AI copied or classified and can correct errors.

Automatically

AI chooses a tip from the fixed list and one label: ‘Matches your situation’, ‘Resembles your situation’, or ‘Possibly relevant’. AI cannot invent a new tip. The tool then uses fixed conditions to check whether the tip fits your data and otherwise leaves it out. Tips selected by AI are marked ‘AI tip’; other tips come from fixed rules.

For both

AI does not decide whether you are entitled to compensation. Amounts, deadlines, legal rules, citations, and letters come from fixed logic: rules and letter text written in advance. If AI does not work, manual input, the fixed rules, and the fixed letter remain available. This is process support, not legal advice.

Legal assessment and official sources

Explanation reviewed on 31 July 2026 against the European Commission's final guidelines.

Vluchtclaimhulp uses AI as an input and comparison aid. The tool does not assist a judicial authority and does not make a decision with legal effect. In our assessment, its current design therefore does not fall within the categories in Annex III of the AI Act. The transparency rules in Article 50 remain relevant.
